Please help us honor Pat German, a former houseparent at Joy Ranch. Thank you to former resident, Brenda Campau, for passing along her obituary.

Patty Lou Norman German, age 80, of Boomer, North Carolina, entered the presence of her Lord and healer on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Mrs. German was born in Forsyth County on May 8 to John and Beulah Norman and was married to James Monroe German, all of who preceded her in death. She is survived by numerous family members including siblings and their spouses, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Kay (Aaron) Smith; a special “daughter”, Brenda (Gary) Campau; “granddaughter”, Amanda Campau; and dear friends, LaRue (Doug) Perry and Patti (Tim) Rhoades.

Jeremiah 33:3, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee and shew thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not” was Patty’s life verse. The Lord was faithful to His Word. She served the Lord in many ways, as a schoolteacher, house parent at Joy Ranch Home for Children and a critical care nurse at North Carolina Baptist Hospital for over 20 years. She continued to serve her Lord through a musical ministry and Bible study at Wilkes Assisted Living in North Wilkesboro, after moving there in 2021. Her life was an effective witness of “love thy neighbor as thy self” and there was a great cloud of witnesses waiting to greet her along with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She faithfully attended and served her Lord, in many capacities, for over 30 years alongside her husband at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Boomer.
